Rephraser: LLM Writing Assistant ("we", "our", or "the Application") is an AI-powered writing assistant that helps you rephrase text, correct grammar, and improve natural language fluency. This Privacy Policy explains our data practices for the cross-platform desktop application.

2. Data Flow and Processing

2.1 Our Server Processing

When you use the Application:

  • Your text input is transmitted securely to our servers for initial processing
  • This processing may include formatting, validation, or preparation for transmission to third-party LLM services
  • We temporarily retain your text on our servers only for the duration required to complete this processing and forward it to the selected LLM provider
  • After successful transmission to the third-party LLM service and receipt of their response, your text is permanently deleted from our servers

2.2 No Long-Term Storage

  • We do NOT create persistent copies, backups, or logs of your text content
  • We do NOT maintain databases containing user-submitted text
  • No human reviews or analyzes your text on our servers

2.3 Transmission to Third-Party LLM Providers

  • After processing on our servers, your text is forwarded to the API endpoint of your selected LLM provider (e.g., Google Gemini)
  • The subsequent handling, storage, and use of your text by the third-party LLM provider are governed solely by their Privacy Policy and Terms of Service

3. Data We Do Collect

3.1 Google OAuth Information

If you authenticate with a Google account, we request:

  • https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email (your email address)
  • https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.profile (basic profile information)

This information is used for:

  • Authenticating your identity with our system
  • Managing API access and usage quotas
  • Personalizing your application experience

3.2 Anonymous Analytics

We collect aggregated, non-identifiable data:

  • Feature usage statistics
  • Performance metrics
  • Error and crash reports

4. Security Measures

  • All transmissions use HTTPS/TLS encryption
  • Our servers implement industry-standard security protocols
  • Access to processing servers is strictly controlled and monitored

5. Third-Party LLM Provider Responsibility

  • We are NOT responsible for the data practices of third-party LLM providers
  • We disclaim all liability for how LLM providers handle, store, or use your text
  • You should review and understand the privacy policies of any LLM service you use through our Application

6. Your Responsibilities

  • You are solely responsible for the text you submit
  • Avoid submitting sensitive, confidential, or personally identifiable information unless you accept the risks
  • Ensure you have the right to process any text through third-party services

7. Data Retention

  • Text content: Deleted immediately after processing and transmission (seconds/minutes)
  • Authentication tokens: Retained only while actively used
  • Analytics data: Aggregated and anonymized, retained for up to 24 months

8. Your Rights

  • Revoke Google OAuth access via Google security settings
  • Uninstall the Application at any time

9. Changes to Policy

We may update this policy. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
